I dove into the platform myself to find out if it was really that easy to make money.

FiveSurveys.com is a Delaware-based survey site that gives you $5 for every five surveys you take.

The website partners with researchers looking for honest answers about products and services.

Typically, it takes 5-15 minutes to complete a survey, which works out to an hourly rate of $4-12 per hour.

… But it can take a few tries to find a survey that you qualify for.

Is FiveSurveys.com Legit?

Yes, FiveSurveys.com is legit.

The Five Surveys apps are well-rated in the iOS and Google Play app stores, and the company claims to pay out over $100,000 every day.

Many people have reported completing five surveys and getting their cash. However, there are a few cases where people have had their accounts “under review” before letting them cash out.

FiveSurveys.com claims these manual reviews ensure everyone is a real person. The good news is, if your account gets reviewed, it usually only takes a few hours and you can cash out quickly after that.

How to Make Money with Five Surveys

FiveSurveys.com gives you $5 (redeemed through cash or gift cards) for every five surveys you complete.

Put another way, each survey pays $1.

Sign Up & Fill Out Qualifying Information

After you create your account, you’ll need to fill out some personal information questions.

This is pretty standard demographic stuff, like your:

• age
• gender
• languages you speak
• etc.

It might seem tedious, but it’s how Five Surveys (attempts to) match you with which surveys you qualify for.

Five Surveys is open to users 18 and over in:

Once you’re in, you can see your survey options in your FiveSurveys.com dashboard. 

You can see the time commitment and rating of each survey.

(All else being equal, I’d rather make $1 in 2 minutes than $1 in 21 minutes, so it’s nice they give the estimated time it’ll take.)

Click on a survey to get started. You’ll fill out qualifying information to see if you’re a fit.

Cash Out

At the top of the Five Surveys dashboard, you’ll see how many surveys you have left until your $5 reward.

But you can actually cash out at any time, with no minimums.

You can redeem your money through:

How Much Can You Make on FiveSurveys.com?

There’s technically no limit to how much money you can make from FiveSurveys.com.

But in reality, it can be hard to qualify for surveys the closer you get to completing five.

In my experience, it can take anywhere from 1-3 hours to complete all five surveys and get $5. The reason is you spend a lot of time answering “screener” questions, only to not qualify for the paid survey.

On the plus side, my dashboard did have plenty of available surveys for me to try.

You can maximize your earnings on the site by qualifying for and completing as many surveys as possible.

Here are some tips to do that.

Be Open and Give Clear Answers

FiveSurveys.com provides tips to help you fill out and qualify for as many surveys as possible. Among those is the insight that “answering ‘I don’t know’ usually gets you declined.”

Be Active During the Week

According to the site, “the best surveys are available Monday to Saturday.”

Answer Honestly

Misrepresenting yourself can lead to disqualification from surveys. Some surveys may reference previous answers, so be sure to be honest.

Be Attentive

Surveys require that you read the questions and answers carefully.

They often throw in questions designed to check that you aren’t breezing through the survey.

Take your time to answer accurately so you don’t get disqualified.

Refer Your Friends

Under your Five Surveys profile, you’ll see a referral link where you can invite your friends to join the platform.

When they join using your referral link, you’ll get 10% of their survey income.

How Does FiveSurveys.com Make Money?

FiveSurveys.com partners with market research firms and companies that pay for consumer insights.

These companies pay FiveSurveys.com (and other survey sites) to gather consumer feedback. Five Surveys keeps a portion of the payment and shares the rest with users like you and I.

What We Like About FiveSurveys.com

Five Surveys has a clean, modern interface and a simple payout structure.

Here are some of the pros of the site and app:

• Easy Structure: Each survey is worth $1, and you can cash out after 5.
• Earn in Dollars: Many similar apps insist on using their own confusing points or virtual currency system.
• Get Cash Payouts: FiveSurveys.com lets you to cash out directly to PayPal or your bank. (Some services only let you redeem for gift cards.)
• No Specialized Skills Needed: Anyone can participate regardless of professional background or expertise.
• Potential for Consistent Earnings: There are no caps on how many surveys you can complete.
• Shorter Surveys Available: It typically it takes 5 to 15 minutes to complete a survey. You can see the estimated time before you start.
• Free to Join: There are no hidden fees, and it’s completely free to join and start earning money.

What We Dislike About FiveSurveys.com

While FiveSurveys is legit, it’s still a hard place to make significant money.

• Frequent Disqualifications: After you complete the 3 or 4 surveys, it seems like it gets more difficult to qualify for the next ones. I wasn’t always sure which qualifying question screened me out, but sometimes, if you haven’t bought a product or aren’t familiar with the survey topic, they’ll say you’re unqualified. The conspiracy theorist in me says they don’t want me to reach the $5 payout threshold!
• Survey Errors: Sometimes surveys crash 10 minutes in, and you’ll have to start over.

• Time-Consuming: There are often several rounds of qualification screenings. This means even if a survey says it’s eight minutes to complete, you may be filling out prequalifying questions for 15 minutes beforehand. Feels a little misleading.
• Account Suspension Risk: If you give inconsistent answers, you may be disqualified. If your activity is deemed suspicious, you may be suspended from the platform entirely.
• Privacy Concerns: FiveSurveys.com says they only use your information for research purposes, but only share what you’re comfortable sharing. 
• Payment Delays & Account Reviews: From time to time, FiveSurveys.com will review an account before they allow someone to cash out. If this happens, you’ll have a temporary hold on getting your money. FiveSurveys.com puts accounts under review to ensure that everyone is a real person and aims to approve people within a few hours. When I was going through the process, they put my account under review after I completed survey number four. Thankfully, it was quick and didn’t stop me from cashing out when I completed the fifth survey soon after. Others aren’t as lucky and have to wait 24 hours (or longer) to cash out.

Is Five Surveys Worth It?

I don’t think FiveSurveys.com is worth it.

It’s a very straightforward way to make money online, but it can be extremely time consuming to earn a few dollars. For most people, it’s probably not worth the time.

I did earn $5 from completing surveys on the site which I redeemed quickly through Venmo, but it took me about three hours. I also had to leave the site and come back over the course of several days so the surveys would be refreshed and I’d be able to find some that I qualified for. 

Your experience might be different, but the closer I got to completing my fifth survey, the harder it was to qualify for anything.

As with all survey sites like this, consider the opportunity cost of what else you could be doing with your time. There are definitely better paying side hustles. 

FiveSurveys.com Alternatives

While I appreciate the simplicity of Five Surveys, other market research companies pay more. 

The sites below have often have paid studies from $50-150 per hour.

Respondent

Respondent targets business professionals for higher-paying market research studies. Where Prolific’s studies are mostly fill-in-the-online-survey, Respondent’s are usually one-on-one interviews.

User Interviews

User Interviews is similar to Respondent. The company specializes in one-on-one market research interviews, mostly done over the phone or online.

The average rate of pay is in the ballpark of $100 an hour. I’ve earned $105 for about an hour and a half worth of “work” so far.

Proflic

Another lesser-known site to make money is Prolific, which specializes in “world changing” academic research.

Their academic nature makes hourly rates higher than many survey sites, with some users reporting earning $10-$30 a day on Prolific.
